ROSA PARKS CIVIL RIGHTS TOUR

It was only three and a half months after the lynching of Emmett Till in 1955, when Rosa Parks decided she could no longer accept the harsh inhuman treatment that was 'a way of life' for millions of Americans throughout the South (including Indiana). With one courageous act of civil disobedience, Rosa Parks changed the course of American history by simply refusing to give up her seat on a city bus to a fellow American that just so happen to be of European ancestry.  This 'way of life'  was the root source of the nation's wealth for well over two-hundred years, but during the first half of the 20th century, Americans had begun to publicly speak out and protest the deeply embedded practices of "the establishment."

While the Emmett Till trial played out in the courthouse of Sumner County, MS, it also played out in front of the entire nation as the television quickly became the newest source for gathering news and information, when in September 1955, Ms. Parks watched in disbelief as Till's assailants were greeted by a cheering crowd as both men walked out of court cleared of all charges associated with the abduction and murder of Emmett Till. Frustrated and discouraged at the ruling, Ms. Parks re-dedicated and intensified her efforts towards the struggle for freedom and equality throughout Montgomery. But Little did she know that just a few weeks later, her renewed dedication to equality would take on a whole new meaning and be put to the ultimate test while thrusting her into the national spotlight. This was also the first time the world got a look at a young twenty-five year old minister name Martin Luther King, Jr.

Join us on May 7, 2016 as luxury motorcoaches depart Indianapolis on a weekend journey back to the cradle of the confederacy, to pay honor and respect to the mother of the American Civil Rights Movement. The Rosa Parks Civil Rights Tour is unlike no other excursion in America. For this tour is distinctively designed to show what happens when women get physically involved in the struggle. It is the females that makes all the difference!
